Welcome to our Site

We greet you at the boy-magazine ‘LOVE’ from the country of Ukraine! Ukraine’s history and culture date back thousands of years to the days when Scythian nomads roamed the steppes on modern day central Ukraine. The country rich in natural resources soon developed into a mighty Kingdom centred on its capital Kiev.

Ukraine was the centre of the first Slavic state, the Kyivan Rus, which during the 10th and 11th centuries was the largest and most powerful state in Europe. The Kyivan Prince Volodymyr Christened the Kingdom in 988, and since then Ukraine has been the cradle for Eastern Orthodoxy. The cultural and religious legacy of Kyivan Rus also laid the foundation for Ukrainian nationalism through subsequent centuries.

A new Ukrainian state, the Cossack Hetmanate, was established during the mid-17th century after an uprising against the ruling Polish invaders. Despite continuous Muscovite pressure, the Hetmanate managed to remain autonomous for well over 100 years. During the latter part of the 18th century however, most Ukrainian territory was absorbed by the Russian Empire.

Following the collapse of the Tsarist Russian Empire in 1917, Ukraine was able to bring about a short-lived period of independence (1917-20), but was invaded by Moscow and forced to endure oppressive Soviet rule until independence in 1991. During the Soviet occupation Ukraine was subject to its darkest years, with 10 million of her people murdered by Stalin’s man made famine from 1932-1933 aimed at silencing Ukrainians desire for independence, a further devastating blow 10 years later with the Nazi invasion and re-invasion of the Soviets, and in 1986 witnessing the Chernobyl nuclear accident. However, on August 24 1991 Ukraine gained its independence after Ukrainians voted overwhelmingly (over 90%) for independence from Moscow. With their secession, the death knoll for the Soviet Union was finally sounded and Ukrainians around the world rejoiced.

In the latter part of 2004 Ukraine witnessed perhaps its most important turning point in modern history with the peaceful ‘Orange Revolution’. At its height over a million peaceful protestors flooded the streets of Kiev in disgust at the pro-Moscow incumbent regimes poisoning of the Western leaning Presidential candidate Victor Yushchenko and clumsy attempts to falsify the election results. As a result of the revolution Yushchenko was swept to power and Ukraine re-affirmed its place among democratic, independent European nations.

Ukraine is a varied country whose landscapes range from the spectacular Carpathian Mountains in the west, the fertile central steppes famous for its black soil, to the stunning Black Sea shores in the south. The coastal resorts of the Crimea remain the darling of holiday makers in Ukraine with Yalta attracting the bulk of summer visitors, while the nearby vineyards provide plenty of wine tasting opportunities. The Carpathian Mountains draw skiers and hikers year-round, and the region is also popular for its restorative spas and historic sites.

Lvov in western Ukraine is one of the main cultural centres of the country with a medieval old town and distinctive architecture. The port city of Odessa, known as the 'Pearl of the Black Sea', is a fascinating city with a wonderful mixture of cultures and historical architecture including the world famous Opera House whose ceiling is decorated with scenes from the plays of Shakespeare.

Ukraine is a dynamic country, which boasts sites of major historical importance, architectural wonders, inspiring countryside, breathtaking sea-side resorts and perhaps most importantly a national culture and hospitality which shines in its people!

Wayne at the Helm We all dream of doing something great in our lives. What it is we do is our choice. We have but one life to fill with accomplishments and goal-setting ideas. For some it is to work at a great job and have a fulfilling career. For some it's to have a wonderful family, great house, friends and a beautiful car. The point is, it's totally up to you what you want and how you go about getting it. I, on the other hand, don't ask for much, just the opportunity to see it all and to breathe all it is that life has to offer. I don't ask of others to be something they are not, I don't want more than my share, and I only wish that I be respected and treated with the respect I give forth to my friends and family. Please don't judge me and I will not judge you. It is you who has to live with what choices you have made in your life, not I.

My dreams are of far away places and beautiful experiences. I love purple sunsets, walks in the rain and swimming in an ocean so blue you can almost taste the color. The world is surrounded by little wonders and small pleasures but we fail to see it for what it is. The greatest thing we can obtain is the things that are free to our souls.

Imagine if you will, a forest covered in a blanket of snow, freshly fallen. The only tracks in the snow are yours and the animals that share the space with you. Are you stopping to fully take in this view or are you just pretending to? The old saying "Seeing the forest for the trees" truly exists if you really take the time to open yourself up to it. Breathe the breath of life for it will be gone in a short time, and it will not be sorry for you if you miss it. I don't dream, I wonder, then I walk to see what it is I wondered about. My dream to sail 3,500 miles started with "I wonder what it would be like?", and I now know. Please stay with me on this adventure and read some of the information I have provided. Together we can wonder what it would be like.

About this site

[Editor's Notes]

Hello everyone.

I have a new project I have taken on - boy-magazine LOVE! Like that is a surprise to any one who knows me. I have purchase a great Big Blue Bus from a local church for male models to take photos and videos.

I plan to work on this and make a camping with my boy-models somewhere in the province of our beautiful country Ukraine to make grat pleasure and hot fun out of it. The proposed plan is to live in this for a year traveling around the United states finding work wherever I come to rest. I have always wanted to do this for like ten years now. I finally have puchased it and I have to go thru with it now. I will still go to the Crimea Peninsula the summer and canoe around Black Sea superior. I will just use the Bus as a camping stop and rest for a couple of days before continuing on. Well I will document the conversion of this Old Blue here on my magazine LOVE. I think it will be fun to follow the progress of the work being done by you all.

Here is a picture of my new addition to the crazy things in my life. Old Blue is a 1989 international desiel. It was owned by a church and has just under 200,000 thousand miles on it. It is very clean inside and has of course all the seats still in it. The bus just passed its DOT inspection and is in good running order. The Engine is a 466 international.

Well I guess that is all for now, and I will keep you posted on the progress, or nonsense as it unfolds. I will pick up the bus next week and will drive it north to park it at my Parents to start the transfermation. This is the Northern Wanderer saying Live for Today.
